As the largest work based learning provider in Greater Manchester, we are committed to aiding and supporting anyone seeking an alternative to full-time education offering you a chance for real career success through Apprenticeship programmes. We Deliver Great Results
Over the last 2 years we have helped 4,000 learners achieve their intended outcome, with two learners winning national awards! We work with over 2,000 employers across Greater Manchester so have great routes for our learners into employment. We are Grade 2 "good" OFSTED rated and have above average learner achievement rates.

Train to Gain
If you are currently in employment and wish to gain accreditation for the skills and knowledge you have learned on the job, and to undertake the necesary training to consolidate your experience and learning into a nationally recognised qualification, then Train to Gain could be for you!
There is funding available for most NVQ Level 2 training so ask your employer to get you on a programme.

Higher Skills
We specialise in supporting people who seek an alternative to full-time education; offering them a chance at real career success without following the traditional higher-education route. Our learners are able to get a real paid job and work towards a nationally-recognised qualification - all at the same time.
By working in partnership with local Universities, we are able to offer an ever expanding range of courses, covering a wide variety of subjects. Learners can choose to study full time or part time for qualifications including NVQs, Apprenticeships, Advanced and Professional Apprenticeships, Foundation Degrees and Part-Time Honours Degrees.
We pride ourselves on having close links with local employers and work hard to ensure that we are able to advise and assist learners in gaining employment in a role which will challenge and inspire them. We recognise that every learner is individual and believe in offering our students more than just academic qualifications. We provide support for students during their course, and specialized advice and guidance to help them to choose the career progression route that's right for them.
The Higher Skills Team comprises experienced Higher Education lecturers and trainers who have a proven track record in helping learners and employers bridge the gap between university and the world of work.
Training Facilities and Locations
The Greater Manchester SkillCentre
The newly built approved state of the art facility provides vocational education & Apprenticeship programmes for 14-19 years olds as well as adult and community learning programmes. Using new technology and flexible modes of delivery we provide 37,000m2 of specially designed and custom made practical workshops, training bays and classroom facilities across a number of trade areas including Automotive, Construction Craft, Construction Mechanical and Light Engineering. Our tutors and assessors come from industry and are all time-served and fully qualified.
Recruitment to any of the training programmes is not restricted to traditional school-year and college in-take. Flexible start dates are available through the whole of the year.

The Hair Academy
Our state-of-the-art training facility is based in the heart of the city centre of Manchester, is a modern, spacious training facility to rival the atmosphere of any top salon. We provide a wide range of courses delivered by our team of qualified, industry-experienced trainers and we have already helped hundreds of young people to successfully gain qualifications. City Centre Training Suites
For classroom-based elements of our training programmes we have 2 floors of training suites in Merchants Exchange, conveniently located in Manchester city centre, with good public transport links. The training suites are all fully IT equipped and free refreshments are accessible for learners.
